Graphic design documentaries are getting more visibility lately thanks to the success of Helvetica by Gary Hustwit. It's nice to see Herbert Matter chosen as a subject for another upcoming film. Matter was one of the most influential designers/photographers of the 20th century best known for his iconic Swiss travel posters. Penguin Classics, in conjunction with the AIDS awareness fund, (RED), has turned out newly design covers featuring bold typography. Each of the eight titles is anchored by a wide band of red, and employs a quote of text in the design.
The Secret Agent was designed by Coralie Bickford-Smith (Penguin Press art department) and Dracula was designed by Non-Format. Image via Creative Review. The designs follow Penguin’s previous inventive Great Ideas Series, containing 80 philosophical and critical works.
