The Philadelphia International Flower Show is gaining recognition for its environmental efforts, with all proceeds going towards the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS) and its acclaimed urban greening program, Philadelphia Green. This program helps community groups and public/private agencies transform unoccupied land and public landscapes into vibrant green spaces; it is the country’s largest comprehensive urban greening room.
Every year, about 60 professional florists, landscapers and horticultural and educational organizations create full-scale gardens and floral displays. Designers compete for numerous awards, including “Best in Show” for their respective categories.
Make plans to check out this year's show, "Passport to the World," at the Pennsylvania Convention Center from February 28 to March 7, 2010. Fore more information, visit the main website and follow @PhilaFlowerShow on Twitter.
