Without a doubt, Pablo Picasso one of the most influential artists of our time. Art historians note that his most innovative years were from 1905 and 1945; thus, the exhibit, Picasso and the Avant-Garde in Paris, was chosen to be housed in the Philadelphia Museum of Art from February 24 to April 25, 2010. According to the Museum, this body of work "follows the trajectory of Picasso's career from his early experiments with abstraction to his pioneering role in the development of Cubism, as well as his dialogue with Surrealism and other important art movements in the ensuing decades." Nearly 200 paintings, sculptures and works on paper will be shown as viewers will understand the significant role that the city of Paris played in this time period in Picasso's life.
